The Skin Cancer Foundation Awards Seal Of Recommendation To UV-Protective Auto Film.
Transparent Auto Window Film is the Only Non-Skin Care Product That Has the Seal.
The Skin Cancer Foundation has awarded its Seal of Recommendation to Llumar UVShield auto window film as a device for UV Protection of the skin. It is the only non-skin care product that currently has the Seal.
This is the only auto window film on the market today that does not darken vehicle windows day or night, and it meets the legal limitations for the installation of auto film in all 50 states. Most importantly, it blocks 99.9% of both UVA and UVB rays that pass through auto glass.
Most people think they are fully protected from the sun when they are shielded by glass. In automobiles, however, UV protection is generally far from complete. Usually only the windshield is treated to protect against UV rays. While the rest of the windows somewhat reduce UVB exposure, the will not block UVA rays, which penetrate deeper into the skin. Like UVB, UVA has been linked to the development of skin cancers, including melanoma. Melanoma, the deadliest of skin cancers, is increasing at a rate faster than any other cancer in the U.S.
Current scientific knowledge regarding the incidence of photo damage among drivers in the USA and Australia supports the need for extra UV protection in window glass. According to world-renowned dermatologist, Albert Kligman, M.D., Ph D. at the University of Pennsylvania, "observations show that photo damage is greater on the left body side of drivers in America and on the right side in Australia where autos are equipped with right-hand drive. This is living proof."
Both drivers and passengers are highly vulnerable to UVA rays in a vehicle because they are close to and surrounded by dun-drenched glass, often for long periods. Children are particularly at risk because they already spend so much time outdoors exposed to sun damage.

UVShield Questions and Answers:
Why Would Someone Need This Product?
Automotive glass (except windshields) only protect occupants from UVB rays. It has been found that UVA rays have detrimental effects on people and UVShield provides 99.9% UVA protection in addition to UVB.
Why Would Someone Want Uvshield Instead of Convetional Glass Tinting?
While darker or conventional window tinting is legal on all vehicle rear windows in California, Llumar UVShield is the only window film that is legally approved for application to vehicle front door windows.
Why Would Someone Care Whether Their Tinting Is 99% Or 99.9%?
If an individual has any type of sun sensitivity they want the highest level of protection. UVShield at 99.9% covers a wider range of UVA wavelength than other films.
Does UVShield Provide the Same Degree of Heat Rejection as Darker Tinted Films?
No, because UVShield has such a high light transmission it does not provide the heat and glare reduction of darker (50% 35% etc) glass tinting. But UVShield still rejects 20% of the sun's solar energy.
How Long Will the Film Last?
UVShield has a lifetime warranty to the original owners of the vehicle against cracking, peeling and bubbling.
Are There Competitive Products Equal to UVShield?
No, UVShield is unique. Courtaulds Performance Films has applied for a patent and is the only company making a film with this unprecedented level of UV protection.
Will UVShield Prevent My Vehicle Interior From Fading?
No film products prevent fading entirely. Fading is a chemical reaction to a combination of heat, light, and ultraviolet. While UVShield will reduce fading and interior damage, no product eliminates fading.

Ultraviolet Ray Primer
Skin cancer, sunburn, pigment spots, rashes, cataracts, retina damage and wrinkles have all been linked to exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
The sun radiates enormous amounts of energy, a tiny portion of which reaches the earth as electromagnetic radiation. The electromagnetic spectrum of solar energy is split into three bands of wavelength: the visible band (light), the near infrared band (heat) and the ultraviolet band.
Ultraviolet is energy we can neither see or feel but can cause the greatest amount of damage.
Ultraviolet radiation is divided into three groups of wavelengths:
UVC (less than 290 nm)
UVB (290-320nm)
UVA (320-400nm)
All UVC and some of UVB rays are shielded by the earth's ozone layer.
UVB is screened completely by glass and many types of plastic glazing. It is most commonly known as the part of the UV spectrum that causes sunburn.
UVA, the band of ultraviolet light that has been linked to skin cancer is not screened by glass and until recently sunscreens did not screen in the UVA region. Most sunscreens still provide very little UVA protection.
Huper Optik Smart Window Films block 99.9% of the damaging, cancer-causing UV rays.
Cover up in your car, too. Llumar UV Shieldä is a thin, virtually invisible polyester film that is professionally applied to your care windows. Its protection is so effective, The Skin Cancer Foundation has recommended it as a device for UV protection of the skin. And, it is the sunblock that provides unprecedented 99.9% protection against dangerous UVA/UVB radiation within our cars. No other sunblock can offer more.
